Pete Friedl, Illinois
SR, 184, Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg

Friedl, a senior All-American, found himself in a familiar spot after clinching the Big Ten team title in 2005 with his win in the Midlands championship match.  Once again, his win at 184 pounds secured the team title for the Illini.  Friedl (9-1) needed overtime to get it done and won in dramatic fashion with a takedown over Purdue's Ben Wissel with only one second remaining in the match.  Friedl and Wissel last met in the finals of this year's Las Vegas Invitational, where Wissel was victorious, 6-2.

Cole Konrad, Minnesota
JR, HWT, Freedom, Wis./Freedom

Konrad was named Most Outstanding Wrestler as Minnesota won the 32-team Southern Scuffle last week in Greensboro, N.C.  The junior won six straight matches and needed just 1:28 to pin eighth-ranked Tanner Garrett of Navy in the championship match. Of his six wins, one came by major decision while five came by fall, including a pin in just 1:12 against Sean Connole of Missouri in the third round. Konrad also dominated No. 15 Mike Faust of Virginia Tech with a 17-4 major decision in the semifinals.  In a dual meet with Arizona State on Tuesday, Konrad clinched the match with a 3-2 victory over No. 4 Cain Velasquez at heavyweight to improve to 20-0 on the year.
