Fourth-ranked Angel Escobedo garners his first career weekly laurel after recording an unblemished 3-0 slate while aiding No. 20 Indiana to a 3-0 sweep at the IU Quad on Sunday. The defending 125-lbs. national champion tallied two pins on the day, including a first-period pin of 20th-ranked Jay Ivanco of Clarion. Escobedo opened the event by sticking Gardner-Webb’s Cortney Roberts at the 2:14 mark, helping the Hoosiers to a 43-3 lop-sided win over the Bulldogs. Next, the Hoosier junior defeated Thomas Williams of American in a 3-1 decision to seal Indiana’s 24-11 team victory over the Eagles. With the wins, Escobedo helped his squad improve to 13-2 on the year to wrap up non-conference competition.
