Iowa's Metcalf and Wisconsin's Herbst named Co-Wrestlers of the Week

Co-Wrestlers of the Week Brent Metcalf, Iowa No. 3 Metcalf earns his second consecutive weekly honor after winning twice last week in Big Ten duals. Iowa opened the conference season against Ohio State on Jan. 18 with a 24-10 win. In the victory, Metcalf defeated No. 5 Lance Palmer with a 5-3 decision at 149. In a dual with Penn State, Metcalf notched his second win of the week by pinning No. 6 Bubba Jenkins in 5:33 to help lead the Hawkeyes to another dual win. The Davison, Mich., native is now 18-1 in collegiate matches, 13-1 in duals and has won 15 straight matches. This is Metcalf's second career weekly laurel. Last Iowa WOW: Brent Metcalf (1/16/08)
Herbst went 2-0 over the weekend against ranked opponents as Wisconsin wrapped up its non-conference schedule. No. 6 Herbst pinned No. 17 David Bertolino of Iowa State at 197 pounds on Jan. 18. It was Herbst's 11th pin of the season. On Jan. 20, with the Badgers trailing 15-12 heading into the 197 bout against No. 18 Oklahoma, Herbst beat undefeated No. 3 Joel Flaggert in a 4-2 decision to help pave the way for a Wisconsin win.
