Perry recorded a pair of wins last week, pinning both opponents in a combined total 5:44. The redshirt freshman beat Penn State's Jarrad Turner in 2:02 last Friday and stuck Ohio State's Zach Craiglow in 3:42 the following night. Perry is 18-2 overall this season, going 10-1 in dual competition and 5-0 in Big Ten dual matches. He has pinned his last three opponents and leads Iowa with 44 team points scored in dual competition.
This is Perry's first career Wrestler of the Week honor and the first for a Hawkeye since Mario Galanakis earned the weekly accolade on January 12, 2005.
