Minnesota's Ness Earns Weekly Honors After Helping Gophers to Dual Meet Title

Complete Release in PDF Format Big Ten Wrestler of the Week Ness continued his recent stretch of domination with two impressive wins last weekend to help Minnesota wrap up a perfect 8-0 season in the Big Ten and extend its winning streak to 20 dual meets overall, the third longest streak in school history. The Minnesota freshman pinned Wisconsin's Drew Hammen in 3:47 on Friday and then shut out No. 5 Charlie Falck of Iowa in an 8-0 major decision on Sunday. With the win, the fourth-ranked wrestler extended his own winning streak to 16 consecutive matches. During this streak, Ness has defeated 10 ranked opponents, including six ranked in the top 10. He has earned bonus points in 11 of those 16 matches and has accounted for five pins, two technical falls and four major decisions.
