Iowa Leads After Day 1 Of The Big Ten Wrestling Championships

The top-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes advanced six grapplers to the championship finals and totaled 137 points on the first day of the Big Ten Wrestling Championships, hosted by the University of Michigan, and assumed the Day 1 lead. Minnesota currently is in second place with 104.5 points as four student-athletes advanced to Sunday’s championship bouts. Ohio State is third with 86 points, while Wisconsin is just four points back with 82. Penn State and Purdue are separated by one point as the Nittany Lions finished day one in fifth with 66 points and the Boilermakers are sixth with 65 points. The Buckeyes advanced three student-athletes to championship matches, while the Badgers and Hoosiers each placed two in Sunday’s finals. Penn State, Purdue and Illinois will be represented by one championship finalist on Sunday.
