Penn State Leads After Day 1 of NCAA Wrestling Championships

ST. LOUIS - Penn State holds the early lead at the NCAA Wrestling Championships, taking a 5.5-point lead heading into the second day of competition. The Nittany Lions earned 38.5 points in the first two sessions, followed by Minnesota in second and Oklahoma State in third. The Golden Gophers have 33 points, while the Cowboys have 28.5 points.
Iowa, Illinois, Ohio State, Nebraska and Northwestern also hold spots in the top 10 after Day 1, as the Hawkeyes are in fifth, the Illini are in sixth, the Buckeyes are in eighth and the Huskers and Wildcats are tied for ninth.
The second day of the NCAA Wrestling Championships begins at 10 a.m. CT on Friday with quarterfinal and wrestleback action highlighting the schedule. Session IV will follow at 6 p.m. CT with semifinal matches taking place during the session.
