Tommy Rowlands, OHIO STATE Rowlands recorded his second event title this season as he claimed top heavyweight honors at the Oklahoma Gold Classic Saturday in Brockport, N.Y. The senior standout recorded pins in his first two matches, a 9-5 decision in the semifinal bout and a 3-2 decision over fourth-ranked Leonce Crump of Oklahoma in the final. With the six points from his first-round pin, Rowlands eclipsed 500 team points in his career at Ohio State, becoming the first Buckeye to reach 500 team points in OSU annals. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- November 12th
Mark Moos, Michigan Moos, making his season debut, turned in a stellar performacnce at the Michigan State Open over the weekend, posting a perfect 5-0 record en route to the 125-pound title. The redshirt freshman, ranked No. 13 at 125 lbs. by Intermat, recorded three falls and a pair of major decisions at the tournament, including an 11-2 victory over Pittsburgh's Drew Headlee in the championship match. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- November 5th
Ryan Churella, MICHIGAN Churella opened his 2003-04 wrestling campaign by claiming the 149-pound title at the Eastern Michigan Open on Sunday with a 6-0 record. Churella recorded three falls, a technical fall and two major decisions heading into the finals. He shut out teammate Eric Tannenbaum 7-0 in the final match. Churella gave up only four points through his six matches.
