JACOB VOLKMANN, MINNESOTA
SR., 165 LBS., HENNING, MN/HENNING-BATTLE LAKE

Volkmann went 2-0 last week as Minnesota upset a pair of ranked opponents, including No. 1 Oklahoma State on Sunday. Against the Nittany Lions on Friday, Volkmann and fellow senior Damion Hahn were honored at Senior Night at intermission. Following the ceremony, he came out and promptly pinned the Lions' Jarrad Turner in 1:14. His six teams points broke a 9-9 tie and propelled the Golden Gophers to a 28-12 win. With that victory, he moved into the top 10 for career victories at Minnesota with 119. On Sunday, the Gophers led the Cowboys 14-13 with two matches remaining, however OSU had the nation's top-ranked wrestlers in both of the final weight classes. Tied at one against No. 1 Tyrone Lewis, Volkmann got the deciding takedown in the final seconds of the match in a 3-1 win. Volkmann handed Lewis his first loss of the season, following a string of 28 consecutive dual wins.
