Herbst earns fourth Big Ten weekly accolade

Wisconsin’s fifth-ranked Dallas Herbst made Badger history Saturday when he broke Wisconsin’s 30-year-old career pin record at the ACC/Big Ten Clash. Herbst, who entered the 2008-09 season with 46 pins, needed just two falls to break Lee Kemp’s (1975-78) school record of 47 career pins. Herbst tied the record by pinning No. 21 Virginia’s Brent Jones in 1:08 and then broke the record in just his second match of the season by sticking North Carolina’s Daniel Llamas in 48 seconds. Herbst won his final bout of the day by a forfeit, scoring a total six points in combined dual matches. The senior veteran helped the No. 12 Badgers start the season 3-0 as Wisconsin defeated Virginia 25-15, routed North Carolina 27-8, and swept the competition with a 20-15 win against N.C. State.
