No. 20 Slaton earned an upset win over No. 4 Nick Fanthorpe of Iowa State in a 6-5 decision on Dec. 9. Slaton's win in the 133-pound class helped propel No. 4 Iowa over top-ranked Iowa State in the dual. Slaton improved to a perfect 5-0 individual record on the season. With the team win, Iowa moved to the No. 1 spot nationally in the latest USA Today/InterMat/NWCA Division I poll. This is Slaton's first weekly honor of his career.
