Wrestler of the Week:
Zach Tanelli
Senior / Rank: 15 / Weight Class: 141
Millburn, N.J. - Millburn

Zach Tanelli earns his third career weekly accolade after upsetting a pair of top-ranked opponents en route to his first invitational title at the Midlands Championships, Tuesday. After losing three consecutive matches heading into the tournament, the senior Badger went on a tear through the 141 lbs. weight class. Tanelli finished 6-0, knocking off the top two seeds and top ranked wrestler in the weight class for the 141 lbs. title. He opened Midlands with two pins and a major decision before facing second ranked Corey Jantzen from Harvard. Tanelli advanced to the semifinal round with a 3-1 decision and then the finals by defeating Dalton Jensen of Iowa State, 8-1. In the finals, Tanelli upset Iowa’s No. 1 Alex Tsirtis with a decisive 10-3 decision for the championship crown. With the win, Tanelli garnered his first invitational title and improved to 13-3 on the season. His performance also helped the Badgers place fourth, their highest finish since finishing runner-up in 1987. For his efforts, Tanelli was awarded the Champion of Champions award, which is voted on by all Midlands individual champions. This is the third Wrestler of the Week award for the Wisconsin senior. With the award, Tanelli has now garnered weekly laurels in each of his last three seasons, earning the previous two in January, 2007 and February, 2008.
