Big Ten Names Cross Country Runners of the Week

Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week Lisa Senakiewich, Michigan State Senakiewich paced the first-place Michigan State squad at the William & Mary Inter-Regional over the weekend as seven Spartan runners placed within the top 10. The Davidson, Mich., native finished first overall, covering the 6K course in a time of 21:03.1, marking her first career gold-medal performance. Hassan Mead, Minnesota At the Roy Griak Invitational, Mead broke a 27-year old mark as he became the fastest Gopher to ever run on Minnesota’s home 8K course. The sophomore runner crossed the finish line second in a blistering time of 24:07.4, translating into a pace of 4:49.48 per mile. As a team the Gophers earned fourth-place honors competing among 25 squads. The Minneapolis native picks up his first career Big Ten Runner of the Week award.
