Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week

Running against the best competition in collegiate cross country over the weekend, Mead placed third overall in the Blue Race at the NCAA Pre-National meet in Terre Haute, Ind.  His new 8,000-meter school record time of 23:33.1 bested the old mark by over six seconds previously held by teammate Chris Rombough set at last year’s event.  As a team, the Golden Gophers finished fifth out of 41 squads with a team score of 234 points.  The sophomore takes home his second weekly accolade of the season and the second of his career.

Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week

At the most premier event in collegiate cross country so far this season, Bush ran her way to a sixth-place finish in the Blue Race at the NCAA Pre-National meet in Terre Haute Ind.  The senior trekked the famous LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in a time of 20:19.1, which topped all Big Ten runners.  Bush’s performance led the Spartans to place fourth overall as a team among 41 of the nation’s best squads.  The Wyoming, Mich., native collects her second award of the season and her career.
