PARK RIDGE, Ill. - Illinois junior Chris DeSilva has been named the Big Ten men's cross country Runner of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

Chris DeSilva earns the first Big Ten Runner of the Week honor of his career after taking first place at the Illini Open on Friday. DeSilva crossed the tape in 25:10, finishing the eight-kilometer race six seconds faster than his closest competition. The junior paced the Illini, who placed four runners in the top 10.
