Big Ten Cross Country will be well-represented at the NCAA Championships, with five men's teams, five women's teams and eight individual runners selected to the field for the national meet. The championships are set for Monday, Nov. 21, in Terre Haute, Ind.
Indiana and Wisconsin earned automatic berths to the men's championships based on their top-two finishes at the Great Lakes Regional on Saturday, while Michigan, Minnesota and Ohio State received at-large bids. Illinois' Jim Riddle, Iowa's Jeff Thode and Penn State's Kyle Dawson also automatically qualified based on their regional finish, while the Illini's Jordan Hebert and the Nittany Lions' Vince McNally earned at-large bids individually.
The Michigan and Michigan State women's teams finished in the top two at the Great Lakes Regional on Saturday to lock up automatic berths to the national meet, while Minnesota, Penn State and Wisconsin received at-large bids. Indiana's Samantha Ginther and Ohio State's Tori Brink and Nichole Hilton were also added to the field as individual competitors.
The NCAA Championships are scheduled for approximately 12:08 p.m. ET on Nov. 21, with the men's 10,000-meter race opening the event and the 6,000-meter women's race following at approximately 12:58 p.m. ET.
