INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- A hot start was stopped cold by a strong Gopher defense Thursday night as the No. 9-seeded Wisconsin women's basketball team fell, 81-49, to No. 8 Minnesota in the first round of the 2012 Big Ten Tournament at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
After a start that saw 10 lead changes and three tied scores in the first 10 minutes, Minnesota put together a 14-0 run to take a 31-18 lead with 3:31 remaining in the first half of play. The Gophers' run was bookended by Jackie Voigt with a jumper at the nine-minute mark and a 3-pointer at 3:31 to give Minnesota a 13-point lead.
