Wisconsin- Head Coach –Lisa Stone

Opening statement:
“I’m really proud of this team. What a great way to start the Big Ten tournament with a double overtime game. Hat’s off to Indiana. Under the circumstances, I thought they played very inspired and a tremendous game. They kept answering offensively, but once we made a change defensively, along with hitting the boards a little bit harder, things started to change for us.”

On Indiana Having Extra Motivation:
“I tried to downplay it and I’m sure Kathi did as well, especially by how much she respects the game. I told my players to embrace the Big Tournament and the atmosphere. If there are issues happening on other teams, those are their issues, we have our own. We know that we need to play better defensively, and have a more up-tempo offense. Kathi coached that game like she’s coached all her other games and I am proud to have coached against her.”

On the last 20 minutes without seniors:
“I told our team before the game, Put everything aside and do whatever it takes to win the game. Whether it’s you on the court or cheering on the sideline, making a big play or taking a big shot, it doesn’t make any difference. The experience is so valuable.”

Wisconsin- Forward-Jordan Wilson

On the team stepping up and her poise for the game winning free-throws:
“I think the biggest key from this game is that we played together. I felt like the whole team had my back even if I missed the free throw. I felt confident to step up to the line, take a deep breath and shoot.”

On falling behind early:
“Coach said we need to get on the boards more. We knew that we needed to be more aggressive and close up the holes on defense. We knew the team that was going to work the hardest was going to win.”

Wisconsin-Guard-Janese Banks

On coming back home:
“It was great to come back home and see my family, but the main focus was to get the win. I was a little nervous early in the game as you can see I had six turnovers. It was a lot different than playing here in high school, because this is a different level.”

Wisconsin-Guard-Jolene Anderson

On composure of the team:
“We just looked at it as another game played and another opportunity to get better as a team. We know when you step across the line it is game time and you have to play 40 minutes. I was really impressed of how well our team stuck together.”

.Indiana- Head Coach- Kathi Bennett

Opening Statement:
“I want to emphasize that I made the decision to resign on Tuesday. My reasoning is pretty simple: I felt the timing was right, and I miss my family dearly. That opportunity is something I really need. I want you to know, I came into this game the same way that I approach every other game. My time at Indiana was tremendous. The support I’ve received from the community was outstanding. It’s really difficult to end on a note like this game because it’s so hard to swallow. My experience at Indiana has been great with the new athletic director, Rick Greenspan. Things were really good.”

On coaching her last game in Conseco Fieldhouse:
“I’m very proud of the effort this team put forth. It’s a shame that a team had to lose. I’m a little upset about Cyndi (Valentin) fouling out, and I’d like to see that again. I think that definitely had an impact on the game. We have some good memories here and have played extremely well.”

On the team’s consistency in the post:
“Our improvement on the post has been very impressive. That’s the reason we’ve been better our last four or five games. We’ve become established and had more consistent play. Jamey Chapman is a huge reason for that. Angie Hawkins had a really good game today. That’s the reason we’ve been more successful and competing better.”

Indiana- Guard- Cyndi Valentin

On the difficulty of ending the season and losing coach Kathy Bennett:
“It’s really hard. I think that coach Bennett did a great job at Indiana and has done a lot for our program.”

On hitting a three-pointer to send the game into double-overtime:
“The offense did a great job of drawing the defense to the inside and kicking it back to me. It was an open shot and it went in. ”

On next year:
“I think this season was a season that everyone played together and got better. Having everyone back is definitely going to help. Obviously, having Jenny (DeMuth) back will add depth to our team.”
