Ohio State

  • Ohio State is 23-13 all-time in the Big Ten Tournament with Sunday's championship win against the Boilermakers. The win marks the Buckeyes' second Big Ten Tournament title in the last four seasons.
  • Ohio State's win gives the Buckeyes the conference's automatic bid to the 2009 NCAA Championship.
  • Head coach Jim Foster is now 12-5 all-time in the Big Ten Tournament.
  • The No. 1 seed has won the Big Ten Tournament four times since the 1995 inaugural season.
  • Ohio State leads the all-time series with Purdue, 36-25, and has won all three meetings this season.

  • Sophomore center Jantel Lavender finished with 25 points and 13 rebounds with one assist for her 23rd double-double of the season and the 36th of her career. The Buckeyes are 30-6 over the past two years when Lavender records a double-double.

  • Lavender's 36 career double-doubles are the most among active Big Ten players.

  • Lavender now has 1,221 career points. Lavender broke Katie Smith's record of 1,194 points in her first two seasons as a Buckeye with 21 points in the semifinals against Iowa.
  • Lavender (350) added 13 rebounds to her already record-setting single-season total. The record was 325 set by Jessica Davenport during the 2004-05 season. Lavender broke Davenport's record after recording 17 boards against Iowa in the semifinals of the tournament.
  • Lavenders' 13 rebounds give her 41 overall in the tournament; breaking the single tournament record of 38.
  • Senior forward Star Allen scored 13 points with five rebounds. Over the last eight games, Allen has scored 127 points (15.9 ppg) and is shooting 53-of-94 (.563 percent) from the field.
  • Freshman guard Samantha Prahalis dished out five assists and now has 186 on the season. Prahalis has the most assists in a season for a freshman in program history. Her nine assists against Illinois in the quarterfinals was the most assists by a Buckeye in a single Big Ten Tournament game. Prahalis had 19 assists in her first Big Ten Tournament, tied for 7th on the single tournament record list.
  • Sophomore forward Sarah Schulze had eight points, shooting 3-of-6 from the floor and 2-of-4 from the three-point line. It was her most three-pointers in a game since netting two against Delaware State on Dec. 16.
  • Lavender and Allen were named to the 2009 All-Big Ten Tournament Team.

    Purdue

  • Purdue appeared in its fourth-straight Big Ten Tournament championship game.
  • Purdue is 5-3 against the Buckeyes in Big Ten Tournament action. The Boilermakers are 2-2 in championship games against Ohio State.
  • Senior forward Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton, freshman guard Brittany Rayburn and senior forward Lakisha Freeman combined for 45 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for Purdue.
  • Wisdom-Hylton has scored in double figures 25 times this season and 89 times in her career passing former Boilermaker Stacey Lovelace for sixth in career double-figure scoring games in the Purdue records book. Against the Buckeyes, she tallied 15 points and five rebounds, shooting 7-of-9 from the floor.
  • With 15 points, Wisdom-Hylton has 1,564 career points, 11th on the all-time Purdue career scoring list.
  • Wisdom-Hylton has 294 rebounds this season, the third highest single-season total in school history. She has the season record of 302 in 2006-07. She is also Purdue's all-time leading rebounder with 932 boards.
  • Danielle Campell had eight points, two rebounds, two steals and one assist against in Sunday's game.
  • Purdue had 34 points in the paint, eight more than Ohio State.
  • The Boilermakers shot 46 percent from the floor, while Ohio State shot 54 percent.
  • Head coach Sharon Versyp is now 8-1 in Big Ten Tournament games as Purdue's head coach. She is 10-2 overall in Big Ten Tournament play.
