Ohio State's Davenport Named Big Ten Player of the Week

Jessica Davenport, Ohio State Davenport helped Ohio State to a 1-1 record in League play this past week, averaging 22 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. In the Buckeyes' 69-62 road loss at two-time defending Big Ten Champion Penn State, Davenport recorded 20 points and a team-high nine rebounds. She was 8-of-13 from the field for a .615 shooting percentage. At home against Purdue, the 2003-04 co-Big Ten Freshman of the Year scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed a game-best 12 rebounds for her fourth double-double this season. She has had five 20-point games this season, including the last three outings. Davenport has scored in double figures in each of her 14 games this season, which is tops in the Conference. This is the first career Big Ten Player of the Week honor for Davenport. The Buckeye sophomore is the first Ohio State player to earn the weekly accolade since teammate Caity Matter on February 16, 2004.
