BIG TEN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Samantha Prahalis, Ohio State
So., G, 5-7, Commack, N.Y./Commack

Prahalis earns her second consecutive Player of the Week honor and her third of the season after leading Ohio State to wins over Illinois and Indiana. The sophomore averaged 23.5 points, 5.0 assists, 4.0 steals and 2.0 rebounds per game as the Buckeyes improved to 19-1 overall and 7-0 in Big Ten play. On Thursday against Illinois, Prahalis scored 24 points on 64.3 percent shooting, also with five assists, five steals and two rebounds in the 72-61 win. Against the Hoosiers on Sunday, she scored 23 points, shooting .500 from the floor, also with a pair of boards, five helpers and three steals as Ohio State recorded an 81-64 victory.

CO-FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Bentley takes home her first Freshman of the Week honor after helping the Lady Lions to wins over Iowa and No. 20/23 Michigan State. The guard scored 15 points and had five assists, two rebounds, two steals and a block as Penn State beat the Hawkeyes, 68-62, on the road on Thursday. On Sunday, Bentley tallied 14 points with three assists, a steal and a board in a 68-60 win over the nationally ranked Spartans. The freshman finished the week averaging 14.5 points, 4.0 assists, 1.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.

Taylor Wurtz, Wisconsin
G, 6-0, Brandon, Wis./Ripon

Wurtz garners her second consecutive Freshman of the Week honor after leading the Badgers to a road win against No. 20/23 Michigan State and a home victory over Illinois. Against the nationally ranked Spartans on Thursday, the freshman tallied 16 points with two rebounds and two steals, including the game-winning layup with under a minute remaining. Against the Illini on Sunday, she recorded 11 points while going a perfect 4-for-4 from the field, also with five boards and a steal. For the week, Wurtz averaged 13.5 points, 3.5 boards and 1.5 steals per game.
