Ohio State's Davenport Selected Big Ten Player of the Week
Feb. 6, 2006
Jessica Davenport, Ohio State Davenport earns her third weekly honor in the past four weeks after turning in a dominant performance on the road against Indiana on Sunday. The reigning Big Ten Player of the Year made 10-of-11 field goal attempts - rebounding the lone miss for a follow-up basket - en route to a game-high 23 points in Ohio State's 61-45 victory in Bloomington. Davenport, who also pulled down nine rebounds, posted a .909 field goal percentage, which ranks third all-time in school history for a single-game performance. The Buckeye junior also blocked four shots in the game, which gives her 251 for her career, just 17 swats shy of tying Penn State's Kim Calhoun (1993-96) for third all-time in Big Ten history. Davenport's eight career weekly honors ties her for third all-time in conference annals with Minnesota's Carol Ann Shudlick (1991-94). Fellow Golden Gopher Lindsay Whalen (2001-04) is second with nine career selections. Last OSU POW: Jessica Davenport (1/23/06)
