McCarville, the Big Ten Preseason Player of the Year, shares the League's weekly honor for the third time this season, after leading the Gophers to a pair of wins this past weekend.

The senior center averaged 18.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in wins at home against No. 25 Iowa and on the road at Michigan.  McCarville finished 17-of-23 from the field on the week for a .739 shooting percentage.  On Sunday, she posted her League-leading 10th double-double of the season and the 43rd of her career with 21 points and 15 rebounds on 9-of-12 shooting at Michigan.

McCarville, who recorded five assists and no turnovers last week, earns her sixth career Big Ten Player of the Week award and third this season as she shared the award with Iowa's Crystal Smith on December 20 and with Penn State's Tanisha Wright on January 24.

Shimek had back-to-back 20-plus scoring games and averaged 7.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals to lead MSU to a pair of victories last week. The Spartan junior, who shot .593 from the field, scored 21 points in each of Michigan State's two games.

In Thursday's 101-40 win over Northwestern, Shimek hit 8-of-12 shots and added six boards, three assists and three steals in just 26 minutes.  She would then return on Sunday to record 21 points, nine rebounds, while dishing a career-high five assists against Illinois.  She also had two steals and a blocked shot in the Spartans' 68-59 win over the Illini.

Shimek earns her first career Big Ten Player of the Week honor and is the third Spartan to be honored this year.  Lindsay Bowen was the first MSU player to earn the award this season on December 6, while teammate Kristin Haynie shared the weekly accolade with Illinois' Angelina Williams on December 27.
