Simpson collects her first weekly honor after posting a pair of double-doubles last week. Against Michigan State on Thursday, the junior tallied 12 points and grabbed 12 boards, also adding seven steals, four blocks and two assists while shooting 54.5 percent from the field. In a win at Indiana on Sunday, Simpson contributed 16 points and 14 rebounds with a pair of assists, a block and three steals. On the week, Simpson averaged 14 points on 50 percent shooting, 13 rebounds, two assists, five steals and 2.5 blocks per game. The Zion, Ill., native is the only Big Ten player averaging a double-double in conference play (10 points, 10.2 rebounds) and has eight double-doubles, including a Big Ten-leading total of six during the conference slate. Simpson also leads the Big Ten in steals and is on pace to break the Illinois career steals record in less than three full seasons on the court.
