BIG TEN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Beth Marshall, Northwestern

Marshall collects her first career Player of the Week honor after leading Northwestern to a pair of wins against Indiana and Iowa last week. The junior averaged 20.5 points on 71.4 percent shooting (10-of-14), also dishing out 5.5 assists and collecting 4.0 rebounds per game. Marshall hit 75 percent of her three-point attempts (9-of-12) and sunk each of her 12 shots from the free-throw line, including clutch shots in the final minutes of each contest to seal the Wildcats’ 15th and 16th wins. With nine three-pointers on the week, the Fishers, Ind., native increased her season total to 50, which is tied for ninth on the program’s single-season list.

Wolfe earns her first Freshman of the Week accolade after a career night in Penn State’s overtime win against Michigan on Thursday. The Ford City, Pa., native came off the bench to tally a career-high 13 points and six rebounds while playing a season-high 22 minutes. Wolfe shot 71.4 percent from the floor (5-for-7) and was a perfect 3-for-3 from the free-throw line, also with a blocked shot. Wolfe is the third different Lady Lion to be named Freshman of the Week this season, joining Nikki Greene (Dec. 14) and Alex Bentley (Jan. 18).
