Penn State Clinches Share of Big Ten Championship

With its 68-57 win over Michigan on Sunday afternoon, Penn State has clinched at least a share of the Big Ten Championship. It marks the program’s second consecutive Big Ten Championship and the Lady Lions’ seventh title overall.
The Lady Lions boast a 13-1 conference record and 23-3 mark overall. In Sunday’s game, Maggie Lucas led all Penn State scorers with 21 points. With Nebraska’s 66-46 win over Iowa on Sunday afternoon, the Huskers improved to 11-3 in conference play to remain in the running to share the regular season title with the Lady Lions.
With one week left in the regular season, Nebraska and Penn State each have two games remaining. The Huskers face Wisconsin at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, Feb. 28, while the Lady Lions take on Minnesota at 9 p.m. ET. Nebraska and Penn State will face off in Lincoln in their final regular season game on Sunday, March 3 at 6 p.m. ET.
The 2013 Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament will be held in the Chicagoland area for the first time from March 7-10 at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill. The tournament week features all 12 Big Ten teams competing in 11 games over four days for the 2013 tournament crown and an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
