GAME NOTES
Though Northwestern leads the all-time series with Illinois 31-22, the Illini have won the last 12 meetings, including three this season.
This marks the second time the two teams have met in the Big Ten Tournament. The Illini topped the Wildcats 75-60 in the first round in 2001.
Illinois will play No. 2-seeded Michigan State at 6 p.m. EST Friday.
ILLINOIS NOTES
Today's victory sends Illinois to the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament for the first time since 2001.
Guard Angelina Williams scored a game-high 20-points, her 13th 20-point game of the season, bringing her season total to 505, which is the 11th-highest single-season tally in Illinois history. Williams has scored double digits in 24 of 28 games this season.
Williams, who was fifth in the Big Ten in steals entering today's tilt, also notched five steals in this evening's contest, bringing her season total to 41.
With 15 points in today's contest, guard Tiffanie Guthrie is tied with Cindy Dallas (1998-04) for 11th on Illinois' all-time career scoring list with 1,346 points. Guthrie also grabbed 11 boards, notching her 10th career double-double.
NORTHWESTERN NOTES
Northwestern is 3-11 all-time in the Big Ten Tournament.
With her second rebound of the game with 15:24 remaining in the first half, senior Sarah Kwasinski moved into the top 10 on Northwestern's all-time career rebounding list. Kwasinski finished the game with seven boards and closed her career 10th on the all-time school list with 634 rebounds. She surpassed Nancy Kennelly (1989-93) who posted 629 for her career.
Kwasinski scored a team-high 14 points against the Illini and ended her career with 1,246 career points.
