2005 Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament Semifinal Quotes
OHIO STATE
Jim Foster, Head Coach
On Minnesota:
"We can just start with (Janel) McCarville. She's a first-team All-American, a great passer, an instinctive player and makes those around her better. She's a great talent. They're very good defensively, very strong physically, and a good basketball team."
"This game will be different. They're all different. Coaches look at tape and evaluate what worked and what didn't work. Minnesota is very well coached, and they have very good players. The bottom line this late in the season is that it's a page out of a book we've already seen and we just have to react. Games at this time of year are so much better played, because players have a wider frame of reference. I look forward to two great basketball games on Sunday with four great basketball teams in a conference that's arguably one of the best in the nation."
Jessica Davenport, Center
On her match up against Janel McCarville:
"It's going to be a very physical game, and I'm going to have to do my best. She's a smart player, and like coach Foster said, she makes the players around her better. I'm going to have to match her physical play and be smart myself."
Brandie Hoskins, Guard
On her responsibilities against Minnesota:
"I have to be able to help Jessica on the boards and do little things like boxing out. We have to play like we've been playing, and that's with a lot of confidence."
Caity Matter, Guard
On team play:
"I think we're very confident. We know that if we take care of business, and take care of the ball, continue to play aggressively and play like we have been all year, then I think we'll be okay."
Ashley Allen, Guard
On playing in the Big Ten Tournament in her hometown:
"It's pretty exciting for me, especially since we've played in the Tournament the last four years and I was only able to participate in one. I'm excited for us and the kind of season we're having. Hopefully, we can continue on and play here (Indianapolis) again in the Final Four."
