Complete Results & Stats in PDF Format HORSHOLM, Denmark - Purdue's Katie Gearlds, Michigan State's Rene Haynes and Illinois' Lori Bjork combined for 40 points to lead the Big Ten Women's Basketball Foreign Tour squad to a 84-52 win over Horsholm, a team which the All-Stars defeated 78-49 on Friday. The host city's ballclub was a replacement for the previously scheduled Copenhagen All-Stars. Gearlds led all scorers with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting, followed by Haynes with 13 and Bjork with 11. Both Gearlds and Haynes produced all-around performances as the Purdue senior also recorded three rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block, while the Spartan senior dished a team-high six assists, pulled down five rebounds and added one steal. The All-Stars jumped out to a quick 11-2 lead after Gearlds scored the opening five points and was followed by a pair of baskets by Penn State's Brianne O'Rourke. Haynes amassed six points in the opening period and fed Northwestern's A.J. Glasauer at the buzzer for two of her six points. The second stanza was a struggle for the Big Ten squad as it was outscored by the Horsholm ballclub, 28-18, and allowed the team to make a 9-0 run to begin the period. Just as the case was in the first quarter, Gearlds and O'Rourke produced most of the scoring for the All-Stars, scoring a combined eight points to open the stanza. O'Rourke, a 5-6 guard, was found playing the post on one possession and muscled her way to the basket for a three-point play. She then found Gearlds on a beautiful 25-foot alley-oop pass, but the offense stalled shortly thereafter. The All-Stars held just a four-point advantage at halftime, 42-38. Indiana's Leah Enterline, Ohio State's Tamarah Riley and Wisconsin's Danielle Ward helped the All-Stars to a dominant third quarter as they scored more than half of the team's 17 points, while the Horsholm squad was held to just five for the entire period. Gearlds and the rest of the ballclub turned up the heat on the host team in the fourth and final quarter, outscoring them 25-9 to cruise to a 32-point victory. In addition to the top-three leading scorers, O'Rourke recorded nine points, followed by Skouby with eight, Riley with seven and Glasauer with six. Ward led all rebounders with six. Enterline, Gearlds, O'Rourke, Ward and Minnesota's Leslie Knight, who was fresh off her 17-point performance against Horsholm, all earned starts for Illinois head coach Theresa Grentz. For the game, the All-Stars shot 51 percent (35-of-69) from the floor, it's best output of the three game, and scored over 80 points for the second time this trip. The win Saturday was the 22nd-straight victory over a five-year span. Since the inception of the Tour in 1992, which has been held annually except for 2003, the All-Stars have gone 54-18 (.750). The Big Ten will look to go undefeated for the fifth-straight trip on Wednesday, July 26, as the All-Stars will face Oslo/Akershus BBC in Oslo, Norway. The conference standouts are currently enjoying a two-night stay in Malmo, Sweden. For Tour results, stats, photos and entertaining diaries of the student-athletes, log on to www.bigten.org.
