Other Awards and Honors
In women's basketball, the 11 Big Ten coaches along with a pre-determined 22-member media panel choose a first-, second- and third-team All-Conference squad along with Coach, Player and Freshman of the Year. In addition, the coaches also select an All-Freshman team as well as a Defensive Player of the Year. These postseason awards are announced prior to the final coaches' weekly teleconference on the Tuesday morning of Big Ten Tournament week.
Academic All-Big Ten teams are named for every sport. The teams are composed of all letterwinners who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. Freshmen and first-year junior college transfers are not eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection.
