Alexander was named MVP of the KCRG-TV9 Hawkeye Challenge after recording double-doubles against Santa Clara and Illinois State over the weekend. The junior tied a tournament record by grabbing 18 rebounds in the season-opener on Saturday, also netting 19 points. She followed that performance with 21 points and 12 boards in the championship game on Sunday, coming up clutch at the free-throw line, making 13 of 16 from the stripe. On the weekend, Alexander averaged 20 points, 15 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.5 blocks and 2.5 steals per game as she tallied the 10th and 11th double-doubles of her career. The weekly award is her third, as she was honored twice last season.

Jantel Lavender, Ohio State
Jr., C, 6-4, Cleveland, Ohio/Central Catholic
Lavender earns her 10th career Player of the Week honor after leading Ohio State to wins over Eastern Illinois and Bowling Green as the Buckeyes advanced to the semifinals of the Preseason WNIT. The Big Ten’s Preseason Player of the Year, she recorded her 38th and 39th career double-doubles with 24 points and 13 rebounds on Friday and 23 points and 14 boards on Sunday. For the weekend, Lavender averaged 23.5 points while shooting at 52.9 percent from the floor, also with 13.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 blocks per contest. The junior’s 10 career Player of the Week selections is third all-time in the Big Ten.

Hill earns the first-ever Big Ten women’s basketball Freshman of the Week award after helping Ohio State advance to the semifinals of the Preseason WNIT with wins over Eastern Illinois and Bowling Green. Hill averaged 14 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists without a turnover, connecting on 57.9 percent of her shots from the field. The freshman had nine points and nine boards in her collegiate debut on Friday before exploding for 19 points, six boards and six assists on Sunday.
