Smith earns her second career honor and her second of the season after leading Illinois to the FIU Thanksgiving Classic title over the weekend in Miami, Fla. The sophomore earned tournament MVP honors after recording 29 points with 10 rebounds in the championship game as the Illini edged Providence, 60-59. In the opening contest, Smith recorded 17 points with 10 boards to lead Illinois to a 91-58 win over South Carolina. On the weekend, the Bloomington, Minn., native averaged 23 points on 64 percent shooting with 10 rebounds, one block and 1.5 steals per game, also shooting 93 percent from the free-throw line.
