Penn State Set to Surpass 1 Million Fans at Bryce Jordan Center
Nov. 30, 2006
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State Lady Lion Basketball program will reach a milestone on Sunday, Dec. 3 against Old Dominion when the 1,000,000th fan to watch a game at the Bryce Jordan Center passes through the doors. The Lady Lions have seen more than 999,000 fans cross through the Bryce Jordan Center doors since their first game in the facility on Jan. 20, 1996. The unknowing fan will be identified upon entering the BJC and celebrated as part of Lady Lion history at the game. Some of the items the historic fan will enjoy from the team, Penn State athletics, the Bryce Jordan Center and local merchants include:
"Our next home game, we get to welcome the one millionth Lady Lion fan to walk into this building. That is pretty awesome," head coach Rene Portland said. "In the years that we have been in this building, we have had great fan support. The community has been very supportive of us. It's going to be great to single out number one million, but the day is also about celebrating all of the fans that brought us to this point. The atmosphere at our next home game is going to be pretty awesome." The Lady Lions begin a five-game road trip today at #5/5 Duke before traveling on to the Virgin Islands for the Paradise Jam Tournament over the Thanksgiving holiday. The Paradise Jam field includes first round opponent #18/12 Rutgers and potential second round foes #13/13 Arizona State and Western Kentucky. Single-game tickets and "Sunday FunDay" mini-plan packages for the Lady Lions may be purchased by visiting the ticket section of GoPSUsports.com or by calling the ticket office at 814-865-5555. Women's single game tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for students and youth (under 18). Mini ticket plans are also available.
