Shimek Earns Third Player of the Week Honor of the Year

Shimek earns her second-straight and third weekly honor of the season after continuing to dominate over the past 30 days.  Against Detroit, she scored a career-high 29 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, which marked her 26th-career double-double. She was 12-of-17 (.706) from the field and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.  In the Spartans' win at South Florida, with the Bulls fresh off an upset victory over No. 11 DePaul, Shimek poured in 28 points and hit a career-high 10 free throws on 11 attempts.  She was 9-of-11 (.818) from the floor and collected eight rebounds in the win. 

In the two games this past week, Shimek averaged 28.5 points and shot 21-of-28 (.750) from the field.  She also posted an average of 10 rebounds and less than one turnover per game.
