2012 Suzy Favor Athlete of the Year Award Nominee - Iowa's Jessica Barnett

Jessica Barnett is Iowa's nomination for the Suzy Favor Female Athlete of the Year award.

Through Monday, the Big Ten will highlight each of the 24 student-athletes nominated for the conference’s Jesse Owens Male and Suzy Favor Female Athlete of the Year Awards. Award winners are voted on by a pre-selected media panel and will be announced live on BTN’s season-ending awards show on Monday at 6:30 p.m. CT.

Jessica Barnett – Iowa – Field Hockey
An All-American and first team All-Big Ten selection, Barnett led the Hawkeyes to a 15-5 record this season as a team captain. She was named Big Ten Athlete of the Week three times throughout the year, becoming the first Hawkeye to accomplish the feat since Kristy Gleason in 1992. The junior was also selected to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) West Regional All-America team and Big Ten All-Tournament Team. She tallied 24 points for Iowa, including 11 goals, and recorded three defensive saves during the season. Click HERE for more information on Jessica.
