The 2008 Big Ten field hockey campaign will begin this weekend as all seven conference teams will be in action. 

Indiana will open the 2008 season on Friday, Aug. 29, as the Hoosiers travel to Rutgers to battle the Scarlet Knights. 

Five more conference teams will open their year with games on Saturday.  Iowa, last year’s Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament champion, will play at Wake Forest.  Reigning Big Ten champion, Michigan, will open its slate against last year’s national champion, North Carolina.  Michigan State opens with a match against Delaware.  Northwestern will play Northeastern and concluding Saturday’s action will be last year’s national runner-up, Penn State, facing off with Old Dominion.

Six more games are on the schedule for Sunday, including Ohio State’s opening match with in-state rival, Kent State.  Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State and Northwestern will all play their second contests of the weekend.  Penn State will wrap up opening weekend play with a Labor Day matchup against Maryland on Monday.
