Offensive Player of the Week
Meghan Small, Northwestern
SO, MF, Macungie, Pa./Moravian Academy
Small collects Offensive Player of the Week laurels after accounting for both goals in the Wildcats' season-opening 2-1 overtime victory against James Madison on Sunday. The sophomore midfielder knotted the game at 1-1 in the second half after re-directing a Candice Cooper shot past the goalkeeper on a penalty corner. She then put home the game-winning score 10 minutes into the extra period to hand new coach Kelly McCollum her first victory at NU.

Defensive Player of the Week
Christina Kirkaldy, Michigan State
JR, GK, Afton, N.Y./Afton Central
Kirkaldy earns Defensive Player of the Week accolades after guiding the Spartans to a pair of triumphs in the first weekend of play to win the Champions' Challenge in East Lansing. The junior goalkeeper posted her first shutout of the season with three saves in the opener against Delaware, a narrow 1-0 victory. Kirkaldy was even more impressive in the second game of the season, as she racked up nine saves against last year's NCAA Championship runner-up to boost MSU to a 4-1 win over Duke. The Blue Devils outshot the Spartans 18-7 in the contest but could only connect on a single goal.
