Northwestern sophomore Chelsea Armstrong earned her second career Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honor following a six-goal, 13-point weekend for the Wildcats. In Saturday’s match against Central Michigan, Armstrong netted four goals and added an assist, giving her nine points in Northwestern’s 5-2 victory over the Chippewas. On Sunday, Armstrong scored two more times in helping the Wildcats earn a 3-2 win over Miami (OH). Through eight games this season, Armstrong has 12 goals and 27 points, both of which are tops in the conference.

Defensive Player of the Week
Lindsay Quintiliani, Ohio State

Ohio State senior captain Lindsay Quintiliani moved into a tie for fourth place on Ohio State’s all-time shutout list as she recorded her 10th clean sheet on Friday night against Ohio. Quintiliani recorded two saves in No. 19 Ohio State’s 3-0 home win over the Bobcats as she posted just the third shutout by a Big Ten goalkeeper this season. It is the third Defensive Player of the Week honor for Quintiliani in her career.

Freshman of the Week
Manouk Vernij, Michigan State

Michigan State’s Manouk Vernij earns her second Freshman of the Week honor after she helped the No. 7 Spartans to a convincing 4-1 victory over No. 9 Old Dominion Saturday afternoon. Against Old Dominion, Vernij scored twice, netting the Spartans’ first and third goals of the game, totaling four points. She followed up with a strong offensive effort Sunday against No. 8 Syracuse, firing a team-high five shots against the Orange. Vernij ranks second in the conference with six goals and 13 points in 2009.
