Big Ten Announces Field Hockey Players of the Week

Offensive Player of the Week Caroline Blaum, Iowa Blaum helped the Hawkeyes to a perfect 2-0 weekend with wins over Stanford and Pacific. Against the Cardinal on Saturday, Blaum scored a goal on three shots in the 3-2 victory. On Sunday, the Wilkes-Barre, Pa., native added two goals and an assist in Iowa's 8-0 win over the Tigers. Elissa Unger, Michigan State Unger led the Michigan State defense tallying 11 saves in two wins over the weekend. Against No. 18 Boston, the junior had 11 saves and preserved a 2-0 win for the Spartans. On Sunday, the Reading, Pa., native rejected four shots as MSU went on to win 6-1 over New Hampshire. Unger played all 140 minutes on the weekend and recorded a .917 save percentage. This is the first weekly accolade of Unger's career. Last Michigan State Defensive POW: Amy Schneider (10/29/07)
