PARK RIDGE, Ill. - Indiana, Ohio State and Penn State have earned Big Ten field hockey weekly awards, the conference office announced on Tuesday. Buckeye forward Danica Deckard takes home Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Nittany Lion midfielder/back Brittany Grzywacz earns Defensive Player of the Week laurels.  Hoosier goalkeeper Maggie Olson receives the nod for Freshman of the Week.

Offensive Player of the Week

Danica Deckard, Ohio State
F - Jr. - Selinsgrove, Pa. - Selinsgrove

  • Led the Buckeyes to a 2-1 victory over No. 11 Michigan
  • Recorded four points on two goals against the Wolverines
  • Scored the game-winning goal with 1:32 left in regulation
  • Earns the first weekly award of her career
  • Last Ohio State Offensive Player of the Week: Berta Queralt (Oct. 18, 2010)

Defensive Player of the Week

Brittany Grzywacz, Penn State
M/B - So. - Collegeville, Pa. - Methacton

  • Led the Nittany Lions to shutout victories over Temple (4-0) and No. 13 Iowa (3-0)
  • The shutout against Iowa marks the second time this season Penn State has shut out a top-20 opponent
  • Earns the first weekly award of her career
  • Last Penn State Defensive Player of the Week: Ayla Halus (Sept. 20, 2011)

Freshman of the Week

Maggie Olson, Indiana

  • Recorded nine saves while allowing just one goal against No. 15 Northwestern in 4-1 win
  • Leads the Big Ten in goals-against average (0.89) and save percentage (.833)
  • Earns the first weekly award of her career
