Ohio State Sweeps Weekly Field Hockey Awards

Ohio State's Aisling Coyle, Jenn Sciulli and Paula Pastor-Pitarque have been awarded the Big Ten field hockey weekly honors, the conference office announced on Monday. Coyle earns the nod for Offensive Player of the Week, while Sciulli receives Defensive Player of the Week honors and Pastor-Pitarque earns Freshman of the Week recognition.
Offensive Player of the Week
Ohio State's Aisling Coyle totaled 11 points with five goals in two wins last weekend against Robert Morris and Indiana to earn her first Offensive Player of the Week honor. In the 8-0 win over Robert Morris, the junior tallied her first career hat trick along with an assist for a career-high seven points. Against the Hoosiers in Bloomington, Ind., Coyle scored the last two goals in the Buckeyes' 4-1 victory to up her team-leading goal total to 14. She has scored at least one goal in 10 of the 11 games this year and has already set career-highs in goals and points with 14 and 30, respectively.

Defensive Player of the Week
Jenn Sciulli reels in Defensive Player of the Week honors after leading the Buckeye defense that limited opponents to just four shots and one penalty corner in two victories against Robert Morris and Indiana last week. In the shutout over Robert Morris, Sciulli was a main factor in Ohio State's backfield that allowed no shots or penalty corners for the entire 70 minutes of competition. The junior continued her strong defense in Big Ten play against the Hoosiers, playing the entire 70 minutes of action. She helped limit Indiana to four shots and one penalty corner. After two starts last week, Sciulli extends her consecutive-games streak to 52.

Freshman Player of the Week

Paula Pastor-Pitarque earns the first weekly honor of her career after posting four points in the Buckeyes two wins over Robert Morris and Indiana last week. In the Robert Morris victory, Pastor-Pitarque tallied a goal and an assist for a season-high three points. She helped set up a goal for Aisling Coyle off a pass from the right side at 40:43. She finalized the scoring against the Colonials with a goal at 63:08 off a pass from the center by Coyle. Against the Hoosiers, Pastor-Pitarque assisted Coyle on her second goal off a penalty corner at 47:31. The freshman has recorded at least one point in the last three games, has started in 10 games this year and is fifth on the team in points with eight.
