Allison Scola, Penn State
Sr., F, Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey
Scola tallied four points last weekend in upset wins over No. 5 Iowa and No. 10 Virginia. On Friday, the Hummelstown, Pa., native stole the ball out of a scrum to net a goal against the visiting Hawkeyes. She also collected a helper in that game, setting up a score off a penalty corner. On Sunday against the Cavaliers, Scola added her ninth assist of the season, as teammate Chrisinte Dudek scored the only goal of the contest. This is her first career weekly accolade.
Last Penn State Offensive POW: Kiersten Wood (8/27/07)
Defensive Player of the Week
Jen Beaumont, Penn State
Sr., GK, Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West
Beaumont held off two of the nation’s premier offenses in three days, earning victories over No. 5 Iowa and No. 10 Virginia. The Chalfont, Pa., native, who currently leads the Big Ten in goals against average and save percentage, allowed just one goal against the Hawkeyes—the fourth-best scoring offense in Division I. Against the high-octane offense of the Cavaliers, the veteran goalkeeper made seven saves, including several game-preserving stops, for the win. The Nittany Lion senior collects her third career weekly award.
