2017 Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament Bracket (PDF)
ROSEMONT, Ill. -- The Big Ten announced the 2017 Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament bracket on Sunday, with Michigan earning the No. 1 seed after clinching the outright Big Ten Championship. The tournament champion will earn the Big Ten's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. Last season, Penn State won the Big Ten Tournament title.
Ohio State earned the No. 8 seed in the tournament, and will take on No. 9 Indiana in the lone first-round game on Friday, Oct. 27, at 3:00 p.m. ET in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Buckeyes defeated the Hoosiers 2-1 on Oct. 20 in Columbus, Ohio. Michigan (8-0 in Big Ten play) will host the Ohio State-Indiana winner in the quarterfinals on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 12:00 p.m. ET live on the Big Ten Network.
Maryland (6-2) claimed the No. 2 seed and will host No. 7 Michigan State (2-6) in Sunday's quarterfinals at 1:00 p.m. ET. Maryland and Michigan State will be meeting for the second time this season. Maryland claimed the first meeting with a 4-1 victory in East Lansing, Michigan on Oct. 6.
Penn State (6-2) earned the No. 3 seed in the Big Ten Tournament and will host No. 6 Iowa (3-5) on Sunday in the quarterfinals at noon ET. The Nittany Lions defeated the Hawkeyes 3-0, on Sept. 15.
Northwestern garnered the No. 4 seed in the Big Ten Tournament after posting a 6-2 conference record. The Wildcats will entertain No. 5 Rutgers (3-5) in Sunday's quarterfinals at 12:30 p.m. ET/11:30 a.m. CT. Northwestern defeated Rutgers, 3-2, on Sept. 29.
The semifinals and championship match are scheduled for Friday, Nov. 3 and Sunday, Nov. 5 at Ralph Young Field in East Lansing, Michigan.
The semifinals will be broadcast live on BTN at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3. The championship game will be carried live at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5.
