Penn State Field Hockey Clinches Big Ten Championship

Oct. 22, 2005

The Penn State field hockey team will finish the regular season with no worse than a share of the Big Ten Championship. The No. 6 Nittany Lions shut out No. 9 Ohio State 2-0 in their regular season home finale for their 16th straight victory. The win was coupled with a loss by No. 7 Indiana at No. 11 Iowa on Saturday to give the Penn State first place, as both teams entered the weekend with identical 4-0 conference records. Penn State and Indiana will meet on Friday in Bloomington, and if Penn State wins, the Lions will capture the title outright.
