Michigan State Clinches Big Ten Championship

The Michigan State Spartans clinched their first outright Big Ten Championship Sunday afternoon with a 2-1 victory over the Michigan Wolverines. The Spartans remain perfect in Big Ten play with a 5-0 mark and a 14-3 record overall. The Big Ten Network will televise Sunday’s match in tape delay at 8 p.m. ET on Monday afternoon.

Michigan State senior Jeamie Deacon scored for the second straight game, giving the Spartans a 1-0 first-half lead. Michigan’s Meredith Way evened the score early in the second half, but the Spartans’ Floor Rijpma scored the game-winner with 58:22 on the clock to clinch the championship.

The Spartans earn the conference’s No. 1 overall seed in next week’s Big Ten Tournament.
