ANN ARBOR, Mich - The No. 5-ranked Michigan field hockey team fought off a pesky Pacific squad to collect a 2-1 overtime win in NCAA first-round action Saturday, Nov. 13, at Ocker Field. Adrienne Hortillosa (left) ended the game 7:39 into the extra session, scoring her 14th goal of the year on an assist from Lori Hillman. The Tigers took a 1-0 lead 8:40 into the game and held that edge until Katie Morris found the back of the cage for the equalizer with 12:31 left in regulation. The Wolverines will face the Boston College/Michigan State winner at 2 p.m. Sunday.

COLLEGE PARK, Maryland - The University of Iowa field hockey team was defeated in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on the campus of the University of Maryland Saturday. The Hawkeyes fell to American University, 2-1, and finish the 2004 season with a 13-8 record.

ANN ARBOR, Mich - Senior forward Veerle Goudswaard posts hat trick performance to tie school record with 30 goals this season. Michigan State field hockey (17-3; 6-2 Big Ten) blanked Boston College (17-6), 4-0, in the first round of NCAA tournament action in Ann Arbor, Mich., on Saturday, Nov. 13.
