Penn State, Ohio State Advance to Second Round of NCAA Tournament

Second Round - Sunday, March 12 Duke 3, Ohio State 0: The fifth-ranked Ohio State field hockey team fell to No.4 Duke, 3-0, in the second round of the NCAA tournament Sunday in Durham, N.C. The Buckeyes conclude one of the best seasons ever with a 15-4 record, for their third-best winning percentage in the 31-year program history at .789.
Maryland 1, Penn State 0: For over 55 minutes, the sixth-ranked Penn State field hockey team played even on the scoreboard with second-ranked and defending national champion Maryland. Despite being edged in the shot department, Penn State's top-ranked defense in the Big Ten held the Terrapins scoreless in the first half as the Nittany Lions thwarted all Maryland scoring opportunities with timely saves and picked off passes.
First Round - Saturday, March 11 Penn State 4, North Carolina 3: North Carolina jumped out to a 3-1 lead early in the second half before Penn State scored three unanswered goals in the second half to complete its rally back from two goals down as the Nittany Lions defeated the Tar Heels 4-3 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament played at the University of Maryland.
Ohio State 3, Cal 1: The fifth-ranked Ohio State field hockey recorded its first NCAA tournament victory in program history with a 3-1 win over No. 12 California in a first round game Saturday in Durham, N.C. Junior Yesinia Luces scored a pair of goals to advance the Buckeyes to the second round where they will face host team Duke at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Virginia 1, Iowa 0: The University of Iowa field hockey team was defeated today in the first-round of the NCAA Tournament by No. 10 Virginia, 1-0. In a very physical game the Hawkeyes were unable to put the ball into the goal
