Penn State Falls Just Short in 5-4 Thriller Against Princeton
Penn State's season ended in heartbreaking fashion in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon, as the Nittany Lions came up just short of Princeton by a score of 5-4. PSU finishes the year with a record of 13-6. Penn State matched its third-highest goal total of the season with four scores. The Lions received goals from Whitney Reddig, Ashtin Klinger, Brittany Grzywacz and Taylor Herold.
Michigan State Downs No. 2 Syracuse, 2-1
Michigan State stunned No. 2 seed Syracuse in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon, defeating the regional host 2-1. MSU traveled to take on Syracuse at its home field where it was 9-0 this season and had won 45 in a row. The Spartans struck first, taking an early 1-0 lead in the fifth minute of the game thanks to a goal from Abby Barker. Freshman Kristen Metula netted the game-winner in the 52nd minute. MSU will now take on the winner of Boston College and Connecticut who play later this afternoon. The game will take place on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with a spot in the Final Four on the line.

2013 NCAA Field Hockey Championship Begins Today
The 20th-ranked Michigan State field hockey team hosts Miami (Ohio) in a NCAA Tournament play-in game at 2 p.m. ET today. The Spartans won the Big Ten Tournament crown on Sunday to earn the conference's automatic berth in the national tournament. The winner of the Michigan State-Miami game will play No. 2 seed Syracuse on Saturday in the first round. Penn State also participates in first round action on Saturday, as the Big Ten Champion Nittany Lions take on Princeton in College Park, Md.
