2004 NCAA Championships: First Round

The second round of the NCAA Women's Golf Tournament, hosted by Auburn University was delayed Wednesday due to thunder and lightning. The championship will resume Thursday morning.

Ohio State's Allison Hanna Shoots Opening Round 69

The 2004 Women's NCAA Golf Championship got underway Tuesday on the Lake Course at Grand National Golf Club. Three teams, Purdue, Ohio State, and Michigan State, are representing the Conference at the championship, with Auburn serving as the host institution.

Hanna's 69 Highlights Ohio State First Round

Big Ten champion, Ohio State, finished day one with an eight-over 296, good enough for fourth place in the team standings. Allison Hanna had a great round for the Bucks, finishing a 3-under-par day with a birdie on 18. Hanna's score of 69 featured seven total birdies on the championship course. Kristen White was the second leading scorer for OSU, shooting a first round 75.

Hermes Leads Boilermakers On Day One

Purdue senior Beth Hermes shot a 1-under-par 71 to lead the Boilermakers on the first day of the women's golf championship. Teammate Onnarin Sattayabanphot got off to a blistering start, recording a 4-under-par 32 through the first nine holes. However, the sophomore slowed after making the turn, and went into the clubhouse with a 76. As a team, the Boilemakers finished the day tied with Southern Cal for 21st with a 19-over 307.

Michigan State in Tenth Position After Day One

The Spartans are in good position after one round of golf at the NCAA championships. Allison Fouch's 2-under 70 helped Michigan State to a tie for tenth place, with four other teams also sitting at 302. Fouch recorded five birdies Tuesday, as did teammate Sarah Martin. Martin, however, finished the round with a 3-over 75.
