Big Ten Women's Golf Opens Spring Slate This Weekend

Big Ten women’s golf teams resume play on Sunday with Illinois traveling to Venice, Fla., to compete in the Illinois Challenge. Ten other conference teams take to the course for the first time in February, while one squad begins play in March.

Iowa and Minnesota open the spring slate at the Hurricane Invitational on Feb. 4-5 in Miami, Fla., while Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Northwestern and Purdue begin the spring season at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic on Feb. 10-12 in San Juan, P.R.

Michigan State and Ohio State open their spring campaigns on Feb. 11-13 in Palos Verdes, Calif., at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, while Michigan heads to Tallahassee, Fla., from Feb. 15-17 for the Mash Up Invitational. Penn State begins play in March at the Briar’s Creek Invitational in Charleston, S.C.

Seven Big Ten teams concluded the fall season ranked in the Golfweek/Sagarin top 50, with Purdue leading the way at No. 10. Michigan State follows at No. 13, while Northwestern checks in at No. 23 and Penn State is No. 25. Indiana sits at No. 42, followed by No. 43 Wisconsin and No. 48 Ohio State.
